What does the word mean?

Updated: Feb 9, 2023

When you hear the word "loyalty," what does the word mean to you?

Does it mean you give your very all to some thing or someone because you know them, they’re family, they once did wonderful things for you and now you’re forever indebted to them, they’re a long time friend or you went to school with them? Sometimes we are loyal to the wrong people. You know they're not worthy of your loyalty, but yet you still give it!

It’s often times hard to realize that there are people in our lives that simply just don’t deserve loyalty. But maybe you-like myself, still give it.

The question is why?

Whatever the reason, just know that loyalty comes in different forms. Loyalty can be telling someone the truth when they’re wrong, being honest with them even though you know it may hurt their feelings, standing with them when everyone else has turned their back on them.

You see, loyalty is not only being a good friend, but being a good person. Exercising patience in the mist of conflict and not giving up on a situation or individual. Not allowing the length of time you’ve known individuals, whether it’s family, friends or others to cloud your judgement of the Individuals worthiness. Loyalty is speaking the truth and standing up for what’s right! It’s supporting, defending, and having someone’s back when they’re not around to see that you actually had it. Loyalty is being faithful! Trust your intuition. It’s usually right! Just don’t be fooled by clouded judgment.

Ultimately Doll, be loyal to yourself, your feelings, your mind, your goals, your health, those who you know love you unconditionally, and most importantly be loyal to your beliefs and faith.
